klim and the angel

An angel visited Klim on a Tuesday. The angel had yellow, tobacco-stained fingers.

‘Don’t take the bus today,’ said the angel before disappearing without so much as a goodbye. In his place stood a cardboard cut-out of an angel. Klim spat at the angel and headed towards the bus stop.

‘Have an orange,’ said a man at the bus stop. Klim took the orange and ate it right there and then. Presently Klim started to feel awful. His stomach began to eat itself.

‘Aaaaggh!’ he said, all dramatic-like. A woman in a yellow hat gently moved away from Klim.

The bus arrived and everyone piled on. Klim’s stomach ceased eating itself and began to simmer down. On the corner of Talbot Street everyone on the bus suddenly dropped dead. At first Klim just thought they were asleep. The driver slumped forward in a perfect imitation of a dead actor. His head hit the horn and the bus gently came to a stop on Mrs Leonard’s front garden, crushing some weeds and a dandelion in the process. Klim got off the bus and walked the rest of the way into town. He bought some cereal and six free-range eggs.
